An architectural or topographic survey documents what is actually on the site today: ground surface, structures, hardscape, utilities, trees, walls, easement lines and the surrounding context that constrains a design.
TDR captures these surveys with 3D scanning where it is applicable, so the resulting base map carries substantially more measured detail than a conventional field-shot topo. Architects receive a base file that reflects real conditions instead of a sparse set of interpolated points.
